About Caterina

Caterina is the Creative Programmer for London 2012, South East. Working as the regional representative for the London 2012 culture team she acts as both catalyst and hub to galvanise support for and engender participation in the Cultural Olympiad across the South East region.

As a festival director and street arts programmer she was most recently the Theatre Programmer for the National Theatre’s Watch This Space festival, which takes place each summer on London’s South Bank, Festival Manager of Fuse Medway Festival and was the Artistic Director and Producer of Arts Fresco, an annual one-day street arts event that she established in Market Harborough in 2002.

Initially a director and producer on the London fringe, Caterina started working outdoors in 1997 as director of Piazza Performances at the opening festival of Shakespeare’s Globe. From 1999 to 2002 she was Director of Celebrations at Winchester’s Hat Fair; Britain’s longest running festival of street theatre. During that time she grew the festival immensely, leading its transformation from a little known local community arts event to one of the most significant street arts festivals in the UK. She moved from Winchester to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to take the role of Festivals and Events Officer.

With previous experience as an account manager in a PR agency, Caterina worked with the Independent Street Arts Network (ISAN) leading their successful 2006 profile raising media campaign. Since 2008 she has been a member of the ISAN board and is the founding member of The Alternative WI – a network for women working in street and outdoor arts.

Caterina is currently undertaking a Masters degree in Cultural Leadership at City University.
